Q.

Pain Medicine

Hello,

Can I give my 9 month old Lotem or Stopayne for teething pain?

I have these already for my 3 year old and just wanted to check if I can give it to my baby as well.

No you cannot use these medicines. Both are combination medicines. Stopayne contains codeine. Only use paracetamol such as Panado infant drops or Calpol syrup.

Teh paed will say no to the Stopayne, because it contains codeine which is not really good for babies - it also causes constipation. Best for teething pain is Nurofen for kids. I did a literature review and it was shown to work sooner, better and for longer that Lotem or Panado.
