Q.

Pain behind knees

Morning Doctor my son 11 years has been complaining for a while about pain behind his knees. This only happens at night before he falls asleep and while he is sleeping. He has been diagnosed with ADD (inattentive type). Could this be growing pains or possibly Restless Leg Syndrome. Do you think it would be best to consult a paediatrician or a Sleep Clinic.

I think you need to take notice of your son's complaint about knee pain.He could be having growing pains although he is getting a bit 'old' for this complaint. This is not due to restless leg syndrome. It would be best to take him to be seen by an orthopaedic specialist as there are several possible causes that need to be excluded for your son's complaint.
