Paediiatrician appointments

Please explain to me why it is necessary to take a baby under 2 years for regular paediatrician appointments and why the General Practitioner is not enough? Thank you.

There is no need for any follow up appointments if your child is gaining weight and growing well and is healthy and happy. Also if your child's development is normal.
