Now that all babies are examined by ultrasound during pregnancy it is not uncommon for ovarian cysts to be found on this examination. In most cases the cysts are small [less than 3cm in size]. These small cysts usually disappear by themselves.Only if the cysts are large, which means bigger than 4cm in size, do they need watching and ultrasound follow up. In some cases surgery may be required.
