Q.

Otoplasty

Good Morning!

I want to take my son for Otoplasty. The fold in his ear wasnt formed so he''s got stick-out ears. He is 6 years old. When he sleeps on his side his ears fold and then they''re extremely painful and red the next day.

Would a medical aid pay for this and how do I go about finding a doctor to do it?

Plastic surgeons usually do this operation. Your son is at the right age for this operation which is a remarkably simple procedure and is soon over. You will have to find out from your medical aid if they will cover the costs, but the surgeon will be able to advise you about this.
