Otitis media means a middle ear infection. The middle ear is the part of the ear behind the ear drum. This is a common infection in young children. Six episodes in one year is sometimes possible but does seem more than usual. It is important to take your child to see an ENT specialist as he/she may need grommets inserted in his/her eardrums to drain the infected fluid from the middle ear.
