Oral Trush-Pls advise

My 6 month old baby has oral trush...on the side of her cheeks. She had this in the begining of the month, but i thought it was due to her taking an antibiotic. I gave her reuteri drops and treated her mouth with Daktarin oral gel. it went away for a few day and came back.....used daktarin again and it went away....now its back again.....what should i do......I do sterilise the bottles and utensils that I use for the babies....is there anything else that could help?? Should I give her more reuteri drops? How often should I give my kids reuteri drops or should this be given only when they on an anti-biotic??

It is unusual that your baby's thrush did not clear up after the excellent treatment you gave her.Give her Nystatin oral solution 1ml 4 times daily for 5 days. The solution must be put in her mouth with the special dropper and try to get some of it on her tongue. Also give her another course of Reuterina infant drops 5 drops daily for 10 days. You will not need to repeat the course once the 10 days are over. The question is where is your baby being infected with thrush?Certainly the antibiotic may have started this off.If she is at a creche is her bottle being adequately cleaned there?

Hi Chan

I am having the same problem wiht my 9 month old. I am quite sure its the dummies or bottles. Go back to sterilizing them before every use. I bought a dummy sterilizer which is a small pot with sterilizing fluid in. I leave one dummy in there and send a second one to creche as well. The dummies then get swopped a few times a day so they get cleaned often. And continue the Nystatin for at least a week after the thrush is gone.
