Doc, my 6y old is going for a circumcision on Tuesday (for medical reasons). For the last week he has had a cold and he now has a cough. For a few evenings he had a slight fever, but it went away in the mornings. He does not have much of an appetite, but other than that he is fine - playing etc. He does not currently have a fever. Is it still safe to have the op?

Thank you

Your son cannot have this operation if he has a cold. Wait until he is completely well again.

Sounds like your son has a condition called Frenulum Breve, where the frenulum (the banjo string that connects the glans and foreskin) is tight and does not allow the foreskin to retract properly, or leads to small tears or irritations.

Frenulum Breve can be treated with a procedure called Frenuloplasty. It is a far better way of treating this condition than circumcision. Look it up in Google or at www
