Not sleeping

Hi there,

My son is 2 years old and does not sleep through. Last night he just came to lie with us in the bed and did not ask for a bottle. I carried him back to his bed when he was drowsy, but he came back in again and asked for a bottle. I have tried to give him water only in his bottle, but he does not take it. So he got a full bottle of water with only 1 scoop of milk formula. He took it and went back to sleep.

He keeps coming into our room and I would like to put a stop to it, please give me a suggestion.

It is very hot here and he does not have a fan is his room, we do. When he comes into our room, he is wet with sweat and I think he comes in for the fan and sometimes a drink.

Thanks for your comment.

This is a bit difficult to be sure about. Your son does seem to be uncomfortable in his room so you need to address this first. Keep the window open and use a fan if you need to do this as well. Your son must be in cool cotton pyjamas and cover him lightly. The last thing that you should allow now is for him to sleep in your bed.If he appears he must be taken back to his bed immediately, even if it is many times at night at first. He will get used to being there. Do not give him more water than once at night if he wants a drink. Use a nightlight in his room if he seems a bit nervous about being there.
