Q.

Not identifying colours at 2 and a half

My two and a half is having trouble identifying colours - I''m getting concerned - who do I take her to for an assessment - the paediatrician, an occupational therapist, someone else?

A.

Paediatrician

Most children only start naming colours at about 3 years so there is no need for concern yet.Children may start taking an interest in colours from about 18 months, but their actual ability to name colours only develops later in the majority of children
