Q.

Nose sound conjested when feeding

Last month I took my 4 month old baby to the doctor, who makes noise only when she feeds (breastfeeding). The doctor prescribed: Illiadin for 5 days three times a day &  Betnesol 14 days twice a day. You suggested the following: Iliadin max. 5 days then afterwards Salex nose drops. If nose is still blocked after 10 days then take the baby back to the paediatrician for a careful review.

Since then, I took my baby to an ENT specialist. He inserted a camera to check my baby, he said everything is fine and prescribed flo-baby spray incase later congested. The sound is still there when the baby breastfeeds and its bothering me. I took my baby to a physio for suction, not much came out &  it was whitish in colour. The pysio said if there was an infection the stuff would probably be green or yellowish. Is it possible that breastfeeding lying down could have caused this of which I no longer do? Someone said aircon can result in blocked nose in babies, is it true?

Let us start with the good news, you have taken your baby to an ENT specialist and he has confirmed that she does not have enlarged adenoids or any other obvious nasal obstruction. You have had your baby on really strong medicines such as the Betnesol with no benefit so this is not an allergy. It is highly unlikely that an aircon will cause your baby's nose to become blocked. The mosy likely cause is that some milk was getting into her nose because of her fact that she was lying down when feeding. Holding her more upright should stop this problem. Use nothing stronger tha saline such as Salex to clear her nose when necessary.
