This is very common with children. If her nose appears to be itchy she may have an allergy problem and she is trying to scratch her nose.If her nose is not blocked or itchy this is probably just a habit. As with all habits the more you remark about it the worse it gets. So try to ignore this habit, she will stop by herself especially if another child notices it and says something about it when she is at school.

Oh shame. I can just picture the scene.

We tried ignoring it till last year when I realised that if I didn''t intervene it wasn''t going to stop. Ignoring it just meant he just thought it was OK to do it.

I suppose I shall just have to be there to mop up the tears when peer pressure sets in and the children start to tease him.

My son is almost 5 and also still picking. We''ve been following the Doc''s advice and mostly ignored it and it has gotten better. But, I once asked him to stop doing it and he looked at me so sadly and said: " but it tastes so nice!" . How can you argue with that? LOL!!!

I wish I knew too. My 6 year old is still picking his nose.
I''ve even done a goal chart for him and each day without nose picking gets a dot and when he reaches ten he can have his chose reward (which is to go ice skating), we''re three months down the line and he still picks.

He knows its not nice, he thankfully doesnt eat it, and he washes his hands when he has done it, but seems to absentmindedly do it when he is tired.
I have told him that he is soon going to find people are going to refuse to play with him and he''ll be known as the nose picking guy.

I don''t see any of his friends still doing it.

Just wanted to empathise with you.
