Sedatives are not permitted for babies of this age.Try to find out why your baby is suddenly so restless. He is ill now and may have a very blocked nose which can really make a baby very restless. If his nose is blocked use saline nose drops to clear his nose and if he has lots of nasal mucous suck this out with a suction device such as Nosefrida. There are other possible reasons now for your baby's restlessness now particularly teething.

Shame Overtired mother, I really feel for you! Been there with 2 llitle ones! its no joke.

There are a few tried-and-tested strategies you can try:
1. elevate your baby''s head-end of his bed (place books under the mattrass)
2. Get Bunged-up Bertie or something like Karvol to help keep his nose open.
3. A bit of Panado or Vidol Teething powders (the Vidol works miracles, but just check if its ok for a 5 month old).
4. Take turns with your husband (one night on one night off) to take care of baby so that you can get some sleep.

If this doesn''t help, you''ll need to see you paed. Best of luck!! let us know how it goes.

There''s no need to be so rude Overtired Mother! And you can''t just give a sick baby a sedative so that you can sleep better...the poor child is sick! Let him get over the sickness and I am sure that he...and you...will sleep well again
