Q.

No appetite

Hi there!
My 14 month old daughter has no appetite. I just can''t get her to eat! She started off in the 75 percentile for her height and weight and her height has remained there but her weight has slowly come down and it is now in the 35 percentile. I cook her meals and i just can''t get her to eat, she shakes her head before she even tastes the food or snack. How do i increase her appetite? She is on 2 bottles a day 200ml each of NanHA, i have been told about Pediasure but i would prefer for her to eat. So far today she has only had 2 teaspoons of her cereal and 4 teaspoons of cottage pie and it is now 2pm. It worries me. She is very active and battles to sit still and eat. I always to have to distract her with things to do just to get a spoon in and she gets bored of her distraction very quickly. Many people comment about how active and on the go she is, so she appears healthy and she''s not sickly but she is quite thin. Please help!

Your baby daughter is certainly eating very little and she is not getting too much milk either, so this is not the reason. The fact that she appears to be losing weight is of concern. Many children eat a lot less during their second year but your daughter is eating less than expected. She seems to be a very active little girl and it would be a good idea to try her on a supplement such as Bio Strath. This may help with her appetite as well.
