NIGHTMARES/NIGHT TERRORS?

PLEASE HELP, MY SON IS 14 MONTHS OLD, AND ONCE A WEEK AT DIFFRENT TIMES OF THE NIGHT, HE WILL SUDDENLY START CRYING HISTERICALLY. I WOULD THEN PICK HIM UP AND CONSOLE HIM, BUT AS SOON AS I LAY HIM DOWN AGAIN HE START SCREAMING AGAIN...WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS? IT STARTED ABOUT 6 WEEKS AGO...AND IT ALSO HAPPENS ONCE A NIGHT EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS. WHAT CAN I DO? HE IS IN A STRICT ROUTINE SINCE 3 MONTS OLD.

You are correct your little son is having night terrors. This is extermely common at this age and is a temporary problem which he will outgrow. In the meantime you should go to him when he wakes up crying. he needs to be reassured and tucked in, then give him a kiss and leave his room.He should go back to sleep quite easily. You may have to go back to him if he wakes up again.Use a nightlight in his room until he is over this stage.
