Q.

Nightmares

Hi Dr. My LO is 20 months old and has been waking up during the night hysterically for the last 2 weeks. I have tried giving her some Rescue bt this seems to make her hyperactive. Once she has woken from the nightmares it takes her an hour to go back to sleep. She cannot explain to me what they are about.
Please help what can i do ?

This is very common indeed and is known as 'night terrors'. It is a passing phase. The cause is usually not obvious. It is important to go to her when she wakes up and to reassure her, then leave the room. She may like to have a nightlight in her room for a while.
