Night Terrors

Prof, what is the cause of night tremor in children from about two? Is it becasue they have a stronger memory? My little girl doesnt have night tremors at all but she merrily talks in her sleep. I can hear she is calling and chatting to her friends at creche. She started big class (2-3) in the beginning of the year so it is all very excitng as they play outside now and have special nice things like water days going on, painting and singing and all kinds of things she comes home with - could the chating in her sleep be due to all the new stuff happening in her life? Her home life is the same. She is 26 months and also potty training..

Night terrors are indeed very common at this age. The cause is unknown. Your little girl seems to be re-living her exciting daily activities rather than having typical night terrors. This is common with very intelligent and happy children so there is no need for concern.

Dreams are just a way of your mind sorting through all your happenings in the day and expressing your fears and hopes etc.
Some people sleep talk.

I''ve sleep talked since I could talk apparently and my husband says I chatter away about all sorts so loudly that I wake him up sometimes. My son is also a sleep talker - we hear him laughing or crying or talking, often we can''t make out what he''s saying and sometimes its just a phrase or word or two.

It''s nothing to worry about. Some people are just more prone to it. It probably happens during a particular sleep cycle when you are in a lighter sleep or something like that.
