Newborn and Constipation

Good morning doc

Our little girl is 2 weeks old today, she is on Isomil and we are battling with constipation. There is no specific reason for her being on Isomil, we had our little boy on it and didnt''t have issues.

Have tried mag phos tissue salts, rooibos tea and a drop of oil in the bottle.

Do you think we should change to a cow''s milk based formala rather, i was thinking infacare?

Thanks for reading!

Take care

It is definitely the soya formula that is causing your baby's constipation. This should be changed immediately to a cow's milk formula. If you would prefer a low allergy formula start her on NAN HA.

try a little cooled(boiled) water with brown sugar, i started giving my baby water from 2weeks old - 30 ml at a time - and just a pinch of brown sugar - she is now 10 months old and love drinking water.

i never breastfeed and my pead suggested S26 Gold - in all honesty i never experienced constipation with my baby

When she is a bit older you could give her duphalac - it works very well
