Q.

neubelizer

Good morning Doc!

I wrote to you a week ago and you advised to take baby (15months) to Pead as baby might have parapertussis. Took baby on friday to Pead and he said baby does not exactlyhave that yet, but some sort of bronchspasm, gave antibitiocs which was suppose to help for the cough and should have been much better by Sunday already. Well, he hasn''t vomit when coughing anymore since saturday afternoon, so that''s been better, but still coughs though, a dry one and more at night. The pead advised on friday, if not better we will then go over to a neubilizer. My question though is, now that i know that the cough is not better and what the next step would be, do i HAVE to go back to the pead, just for him to tell me that we now going to try the neubalizer? I''ve heard that one can rent these neubalisers from the clinics and they show you how to do it. Would it be ok for me to do this or should i rather go through a pead?

Your baby has had a viral infection and is now getting better. It seems that he had a condition called bronchiolitis. He will cough for a while and as long as he sleeps well and eats well there is no need for extra medicines.

Just spoke to the Pead, he sent me a prescribtion for " dulan" , can''t really make out the handwriting. Told him we''ll rent the neubelizer, he said ok, but suggested that we take baby for physio too. Question: Can i use the neubelizer this weekend and if the chest still tight on monday then take him to physio or should i rather take him tomorrow for physio too.
I don t have medical aid that''s why i''m asking, but don t want to sacrifice my baby''s health too.
