Q.

Naughty 2 year old child

Hi Doc. My daughter is turning 3 at the end of July, but is sill very mischievous. She cannot sit still at all and has a hell of a lot of energy. I punish her and spank her occassionally, but yet she is still very naughty. She still throws tantrums &  embarasses me in a store or when we go visiting as she cannot sit still and only wants to misbehave. I feel this sort of behaviour is not normal for her age. What do u say and what advise can you give me?

Your little girl's behaviour is reasonably normal for this age. Remember that she is still in the 'terrible two's'. Always speak firmly in a clear loud voice when you tell her to stop doing something that is annoying you. She will take advantage when at other people's houses or in shops as she knows that there is little that you can do about it then.If she throws a tantrum at home then simply walk away from her and let her continue her performance alone. Only return once she is quiet again. This stage will pass. The main thing is to keep calm at all times and to be firm but kind with her.
