Nail Biting

Hi Doc,

My 2.5 year old daughter constantly bites her fingernails and it does not matter how often i tell her to stop il catch her again doing it again. This is very concerning how do i get her to stop this and what could be the course of it.

This is a very common habit in children of this age.As with all habits at this age the more one draws attention to the habit the worse it seems to become.Try your best to completely ignore your daughter's nail biting and don't say a word about it to her. With time this habit will just simply disappear and she will stop biting her nails.
