My newphew started stealing

My nephew of 12 years old started stealing. He stole money from his grandmother. Sunglasses from his cousin. A camera has gone missing but we don' t know if it was him. The last incident he stole his brother' s cellphone and gave it away to a friend.

When confronted, he first denied it. When pressurized he admitted to it. When he stole the money it he said he did it to buy cooldrinks for himself and his friends. With the last incident he said that he doesn' t know why he did.

What do we do. His mother does not have medical aid and cannot afford to take him to private doctor.

Please assist.

Thank You

Your nephew is old enough to know that stealing is wrong. Boys of this age steal as an attention seeking device if he is stealing in his own home. If he is stealing outside of his home it is usually in order to gain popularity with his friends. In either case his stealing is now a major problem and he needs help.He must be seen by a psychologist ASAP.
