My baby fell

Hi Doc,
My heart is so sore :-(. THis morning i was changing my babys nappy, he is 6 months old. I never do it on our bed but today i did :-(. I then
walked away to throw the nappy in the nappy bin about maybe 2 meters away and he fell. I dont know how he fell but when i got to him he was
lying on his back. He cried a bit(not even a minute), he has no bumps or anything. How will i know if he is injured? maybe broke something? He was happy and his old self afterwards but
i''m still concerned and i cant stop blaming myself for being reckless. I''m crying as i think about this. Our bed is about a meter high(maybe less) and the floor is tiled. He is eating normaly and playing like he always does.
Please advise

This unfortunately does happen all too commonly. Once a baby can roll over by himself they can roll off a bed when one is not looking. It seems that your baby is fine and fortunately he did not fall too far. The danger signs to look out for are drowsineess, vomiting and food refusal. If any of thse occur he must be seen by a doctor.

I know its distressing when this happens - but I think most babies of even the most vigilant mothers have fallen off of beds.

Just keep an eye on him and if he starts vomiting today or tonight or is extremely sleepy, so much so that you can''t rouse him when he falls asleep, then take him to the doctor and tell them he fell off the bed.

Both my children have crawled off our bed at some point.
