Q.

My baby cries in her sleep

My nine month old girl often wakes from her sleep like something has shocked her and she wakes up crying. Does anyone know why? Even during her sleep, she' ll sometimes pull her face as if sobbing but quietly. Does anyone know what could be causing this. She' s a healthy happy baby, generally.

This is normal and there is no need for concern. The crying tends to occur in babies when they go from one level of sleep to another. If she wakes up she is not really wide awake and will go back to sleep agin. this is known as a transitional phase in babies and soon stops happening as they get a little bit older.
