mumps

hi. my 2 year old has recently started day care and she has now develpoed mumps. i have taken her to the doctor and she''s taking antibiotics. this is the 5th day and the swelling still hasn''t gone down. Should i be worried? Is there anything that she can take medication wise so that she can stop getting infected from day care

It is strange that your daughter has mumps as she should have been vaccinated against mumps with the MMR vaccine at 15 months. Mumps is caused by a virus and antibiotics do not help. The mumps swelling usually lasts for 5 days before it starts to go down. She should not attend day care until the swelling has disappeared.
