Q.

Mucus overload

My son is 15 months old and busy teething. He is constantly snotty and coughing and gets ear infection. I think teething is the culprit though. How can I safely reduce or manage the mucus that makes him sick.

Your son sounds as if he has a cold and a chest infection. this is usually caused by a viral infection such as by the RS virus. Children of this age can get repeated infections caused by this virus. Keep your son's nose clesr by using a saline nasal spray such as Sterimar Baby twice daily every day. Also give him Mucopsect syrup 2.5ml twice daily to clear his chest mucous. Build up his immunity by giving him Scotts Emulsion daily and also a probiotic such as Probiflora one chewable tablet daily.
