mozambique

Hi Doc

We are planning a holiday to mozambique and would like to take my 20month old little girl.
what are the malaria risks? should we rather not take her?

I am sure that you have heard about the recommendation that children 5 years and younger should not be taken into a malarial area unless absolutely necessary. Mozambique is regarded as a malarial area and in addition the malaria there may be the resistant form. This means that taking some of the well-known anti-malariala may not offer adequate protection against malaria infection.
