Q.

mouth ulcers (candida)

Hi doc

My 9 yr old son has mouth ulcers (candida) and I believe that it is contagious. I am now scared that my 18 month old toddler might get it too. Is there any way I can prevent that from happening? Also advise with what can I treat the older one''s mouth please.

Your son's mouth ulcers are due to a virus called herpes. This is infectious and may affect your toddler. You older son should have his own eating utensils and plates and he must wash his hands well before and after meals. He should not touch his younger brother until he is well again.
