Mouth Ulcers

Hi Dr
Thanks for your advice earlier, l think that we need to get him up to Cape Town and have him checked out too. We will look at going at the end of May and will make the arrangements so long. Do appreciate your assistance, my gut feel says l need to look into things further.

One other thing - Tayden seems to get alot of mouth ulcers, big ones that get up to about half the size of my pinky nail, one or two at a time.

do you think he might be lacking something in that he keeps getting mouth ulcers? Is there something that l can give him - supplementwise - to stop these mouth ulcers? Is there a lack of some nutrient that is causing it?

Thanks so much.

You are very welcome and I will do my best to advise you whenever the need arises. You really are having a battle.Tayden's mouth ulcers are probably 'aphthous ulcers' and as they are recurrent, he seems to be having a syndrome called RAS [recurrent aphthous stomatitis]. The cause is not known but may be associated with a condition called Crohn's disease.Treatment of these ulcers is difficult and usually it is best to apply a gel such as Teejel to the ulcers. Try to get a toothpaste that does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate as this can aggravate these ulcers.
