Dear Prof

We have loads of mozzies and last night as almost every other night I put some peaceful sleep for kids on my 20 months old. This morning his whole body is covered in what looks like insect bites, but is mostly on the places that I covered with the lotion. This is obviously then an allergic reaction or did the lotion perhaps create a feeding ground for the insects? And if it is an allergy, what else can I then use to protect him? A mosquito net would freak him out of he struggles to get out.

Then my older boy, who I wrote about on Monday was still actually sick, because immediately after I wrote he already had a fever again. So, he has been drink Orelox since Monday morning, but he still has a low grade fever. Shouldn''t he have been better by now. He is not complaining about his throat and he does eat some, so the tonsils is not bothering him that much, but I''m just concerned that we are not getting rid of the fever. Should I take him to the doc?

Have a good weekend.

It does seem that your younger son has an allergic reaction known as urticaria. Give him an antihistamine syrup called Allecet 5ml once daily until the rash has cleared up.Also apply calamine lotion to his rash twice daily. Rather use the Peaceful Sleep pads in the special plug-in unit in his room and do not apply any mosquito repellant to his body directly.
Your older son appears to have a viral infection as he is not responding to the antibiotic. You still should complete the course. He may have a viral tonsillitis which often takes about 10 days to clear up.If he is still feverish by Tuesday 4 December take him back to the doctor for a check up.
