Childhood Diseases

Please can you advise, I have had my toddler tested for allergies and the results came back that she had allergies against, dust mites, mould and -|- aroaches which is why she is constantly sickly with nasal drip cough and such. I am rather concerned and shocked as I am quite confident we do not have a mould or roach problem in our home. Since the results, I have investigated all our cupboards and suspect areas for these pests and have not found any evidence of a roach or mould. I can understand dust mites as this is common and difficult to avoid although all our bedding is washed weekly on a very hot wash. My child has a brand new bed as well as linen and duvet.
If you can give me advise on these allergies I would appreciate it.
Thank you.

You can get information sheets about all of these allergies by going to the Allergy Society of South Africa website: Look up the various allergens you mention here and then you can print out the special information sheets.Your little girl may have been sensitised to cockroach allergen when on holiday at the coast especially in KZN or at a playschool. The contact with the allergen does not always need to take place at home.
