Q.

Moaning baby

Hello Doctor,

My 6 month old moans a lot. I have had him checked out and there is nothing medically wrong with him. Could he be bored and needs a lot of stimulation? When I pick him up, he is fine for 5 minutes and then moans again. Could it be teeth? His hands are in his mouth constantly. He sleeps 3 x 10 minutes during the day and at night, he wakes up every 2 hours, moaning, then drinks a bit and falls asleep again.

Thank you.

I agree with your diagnosis. It does appear that your baby's moaning and wakefulness is due to his teething. He is probably quite uncomfortable so you should be applying a teething gel to his gums especially at night and if he is in obvious pain he may need Panado or Calpol when required.
