Q.

MMR Vaccination

Hi Doc

I sent my baby who is 15months old to the local clinic to get his MMR vaccination. The clinic sister turned me away saying that they do not do the vaccination and that I should bring him back when he is 18 months old. I''m just going according to his clinic card and I can''t understand why it would say on the card that he needs the vac and the sister says that he does not. Please help

The new South African Chilhood Vaccination Schedue recommneds that the MMR be given at any time from 15 to 18 months.Previously the recommnedation was that the MMR be given at 15 months. In any case your baby could have had the MMR as he is 15 months old.The clinic sister was wrong to send him away.
