milk question

Hi Doc

How does one know that a child is lactose intolarent besides a test, my first born was on isomil as a nurse said she is allegic to milk, she was constantly having bad rashes and passing a lot of the nurse said since there is a history of allegy in the family i must give her soy based milk..she didnt like isomil as she never used to finish a 200 ml a day n nothing at night, now am pregnant with my second baby, tell me what are the chances of this baby being allegic to milk??/

Secondly what is the best Lactose free milk out there...or which one would u recommend??? Can i start with a normal cow based milk or should got straight to a LF milk...

Thank you

I am a working mum i can only breastfeed for 4 month and she has to take milk afterwards..

Your first baby seems to have had the symptoms of lactose intolerance, not cow's milk allergy.Lactose intolerance does run in families but not every child is affected.Don't be concerned about your new baby yet. You will see the signs of lactose intolerance even when breast feeding your baby.If they do occur then you can try a lactose free formula.
