Milk of magnesia

Good morning!
I''ve recently started giving my almost 1yr boy chele-fer iron syrup as advised by a nursing sister, but only 2.5ml per day as it''s for toddlers over 2yrs old. She did tell me and i have noticed that baby gets a bit constipated (as in hard poo, but he does poo),so i''ve given him 1 teaspoon milk of magnesia now for the past 3 days. My question is, will he get used to the chele-fer and not get constipated or will he now always be constipated cos of the iron syrup and can i continue to give teaspoon milk of magnesia every day?
Pls also advise how much milk minimum should he get in a 12day?
And lastly, i''ve been reading that by he''s age he should be saying Mamma and Dadda to the correct one, but he just babbles dadddddaaaddadaa, should we be concern that he not saying mamma or dadda yet?
Thanking you

You do not need to give your baby son any extra iron. Most formulas are fortified with iron and if he eats a good mixed diet he will get enough iron. He certainly must not get milk of magnesia every day. He needs about 720ml of milk per day now. He is still too young to be definitely expected to be saying the words you mention. He should start at around 13 to 14 months.
