Milk Allergy??

Hi Doc, my son who is 3 year old got sick last week and he couldnt breathe properly, his chest was tight and he had a cough, took him to the doctor who reffered him to hospital and was admitted for 3 days. the paedetrician said he has bronchi pneumonia. he was nebulised and had a drip on for 3 days. they ran some tests and yesterday the results revealed that he is allergic to milk?
i really don''''t understand because he has been drinking his milk from birth and he loves it and it has never made him sick before. i don''''t know where to start. Please advise on wht i should give him to substitute the milk?
the results says the allergy is moderate. should i stop to give him milk completely?

It would certainly be a good idea to stop giving your son milk for a trial period of at least 4 weeks. He is rather 'old' to still show such a definite positive test for milk allergy. Milk allergy can affect children's chests at this age especially if the doictor suspects that he may have asthma. Give soya milk and soya products such as soya yoghurt in place of milk and dairy products. He must not have any cow's milk during the trial period. If his chest is much better off milk he must stay on a milk free diet.
