Q.

milk

hi doc, my son is 18 months and weighs 11.60kg. he has always been a poor eater, he goes for 3 or 4 days at a time without eating any solids. at his last paed''s appointment she suggested i give him langefene to boost his appetite. that only worked for 2 days. now, it doesnt seem to be helping with his appetite. is there something else i can give him. i''ve tried everything, different foods and letting him feed himself and involving him in our meal times. nothing is working. he drinks 2x 260ml nido during the day and 3x at night.

The average weight for a little boy of 18 months is 11kg, so your son's weight is above the average;in fact his weight is on the 75th percentile line on the children's growth chart putting him in the top 25% for children of his age! He is drinking too much Nido especially at night and also twice a day which is filling him up, so it is not surprising that he appears to have no appetite during the day.Your son does not need any appetite stimulants as his weight is excellent.
