Q.

METFORMINE/GLUCOPHAGE

I am 37 weeks, I am taking Metformine/Glucophane 850 mg 3 times a day. My question is can I breast feed my baby while taking this medication, The doc diagnosed me with PCOS, which was messing up my menstruation cycles, hence I had to take them. Secondly I am planning to breast feed for 6 to 8 weeks only, my question is can I breast feed and also give formular milk to the baby at the same time?

You cannot breast feed while taking metformin/glucophage as it passes into breast milk.As you have polycystic ovarian syndrome you will need to stay on the metformin.
