Q.

MENINGOCOCCAL SEPTICAEMIA

I just received an email with regards to this sickness. Both my kids received the Prevenar injection. Would this be suffecient enough to protect them from this (above mentioned) virus. Alternativelly can you please recommend which other vaccinate I can give them to make sure that they don't get this virus. I would also like myself & my husband to get vaccinated, can we go for the same. My youngest is 2 and oldest 7. Thanx

The Pneumococcal vaccine [Prevenar] will not protect your baby against Meningococcal infection which is a completely different bacteria [not a virus]Your baby must have the Meningococcal immunisation. Speak to your paediatrician about your 7 year old and immunisation. He may have already had this immunisation course.
