Marks on nails

Good day,
I have noticed that my 9month son has white marks (stripes) on his fingernails. Does this mean he has an iron shortage or a shortage of something else? Where before I had to cut his nails at least once a week if not twice, I have not needed to cut his nails for the last two weeks.
(He suffered with a cold for about 5 weeks which has stopped since last week. Also, he has grade V kidney reflux. Don' t know if either of these factors could contribute to the problem with his nails?)
Thank you.

These white spots on babies' nails are very common. Sometimes they appear after a respiratory infection. They usually diasppear with time. These spots do not indicate that your baby has any deficiencies.

Isn' t it a calcium shortage? I had that and when I increased my calcium intake the marks disapeared.
