Q.

Maningitis

There is an outbreak of maningitis at a primary school where my son is attending. What can I do to prevent him from getting infected.

Most if not all children are immunised against 2 of the most dangerous forms of meningitis when they receive their 6 in 1 and Prevenar immunisations.Children are not immunised against menigococcol memningitis in SA. If there is an outbreak of menigococcal meningitis at his school it would be safest to keep your son at home until the epidemic is over
