Malignant Hyperthermia

Please help, our family - on my dads side - are all positive for Malignant Hyperthermia - my dad, myself, my daughter and one son (one is negative) and now my grandaughter who is seven needs to be tested - and grandson of a year - and I cannot find anyone who still does the muscle biopsy testing. Many years ago a Dr Isaacs in Johannesburg done this specific test, but most doctors dont seem to know where I can get my grandaughter and grandson tested. Any ideas??

This is a very important question.A special study on children with malignant hyperthermia is being done at the Red Cross Children's Hospital at present. The test is done on a sample of blood which is sent to London for analysis. Please contact Dr Jenny Thomas, the paediatric anaesthetist at Red Cross Children's Hospital by email for more information. I have spoken to Dr Thomas and she will be very pleased to help you.
