Q.

Malaria prevention for under one year old

We' d like to take our almost one year old to Malawi - what preventative malaria medication should we give her and are there any other risks we should be aware of?

There are no safe anti-malarials for this age group. The best protection is the use of mosquito nets and the use of mosquito pads in bedrooms. If you are going to a definite malarial area and the visit is not absolutely essential it is best not to take a young baby there.
