Q.

Malaria area

Hi

Hope you can help. My husband has booked a 2 night getaway to a hotel that is on the border between a high risk and low risk malaria area. (The hotel says the area is low risk but we can see on the map that it is on the border.)

My daughter is 13 months old and will be going with us. Do you recommend we put her onto malaria medication or just be very careful with her (ie. keep her covered and sprayed at night).

Thanks.

Babies of this age cannot take anti-malarials. You will need to use preventive measures incuding and especially the use of anti-mosquito nets over her cot or bed. In all honesty it is best not to take babies to malaria areas especially during the high risk season.
