Making up words

Please can you tell me if it is normal or anything to be concerned about? My two and a half year old son has started making up words. He speaks very well, has a large vocab and uses lots of descriptive words when he explains himself. He has now started making up words. For example, he will say, " that is a okka pokka wokka truck"  Or if he is angry he will shout some made up words instead of telling me he is not happy or does not like something which is what he used to do. Should I correct him when he uses these words?
Thank you for your advise.

This is normal and still to be expected at your son's age. About 60% of the words he uses will be normal words and the rest may be made up words. It seems that brighter children are often likely to use more made up and often rhyming words. As he gets to 3 years he should use less of these made up words. If he persists beyond 3 years it would help to see a speech therapist.
