lung abscess

Hi Dr, my 11 month year son has been diagonised with lung abscess on monday, and his been hospitalised for six days now, he went for an x-ray 3 days after been admitted to the hospital and his Dr said the X-ray still looks the same as the first one. and tomorrow his going for another scan, Im becoming a bit worried because the Dr is not really explaining in details what is really happening with my son. is it something that I should worry about.

I am sorry to have to tell you but you do need to be worried. The most common cause of a lung abscess in a baby of your son's age is pneumonia and is called 'staph pneumonia'. Please ask your baby's doctor to tell you exactly what the diagnosis is and what treatment your baby will need.
