lump in 4mnth olds armpit

I recently found a firm lump in my babies armpit- its th size of a large grape. It feels like a pit with jelly around- he doesn''t seem to be in pain or discomfort- what could this be? Do I need to take him to a doc?

The most likely cause is an enlarged gland as a result of the BCG vaccination your baby was given soon after birth. Most times this swelling goes away by itself after rather a long time, but sometimes an abscess can form which may need to be treated. You should take your baby to see a doctor

I have just had the same problem with my little girl. We went to the paed and he gave me a course of antibiotic and a week later we check and the size had got smaller and the lump was not as red. He said that seeing as the redness had gone we had decided to keep an eye on the lump as it does not bother her. He said it could take up to 4 months for the lump to go away. I hope that our little one is as lucky and that he gets better soon.

I had my baby''s removed, yes it was caused by BCG. I took her to a paed and she referd me to a surgeon who ep\xplain everything to me and alternatives. I chose to get it removed(operation). My baby was in pain, becasue there was a lot of plaug(spel) and we couldn''t lift her up. After the removal she was back to her normal self in about 2 weeks. Remember not to squeez it, just feel it with your middle finger rubbing in circular motion. Where are you staying. I am in Pretoria.
