Q.

Lower lip sucking

Hi,

My daughter is 17months old and sucks her lower lip so much that it is swolen. I' ve tried all sorts of bitter applicants from the pharmacy, but she just wont stop.

Please advice before the lip fall off or get permanately deformed. Thanks

This is not unusual and is a habit which is difficult to stop. It is more common in young children with blocked noses. If your little toddler has a blocked nose then help her to open her nose by using saline nose drops.I Even though she is 17 months old now it may help if she had a dummy to suck on instead of her lips.

My son is also 17 months and does exactly the same, I think its teething related, and it soothes them.

Just my opinion, but I think they might just outgrow it.
