Q.

Lost toe nail

Dear Prof

Hope you are keeping well??

My 2 yo son bumped his big toe a week or 2 ago, and lifted the nail in the process. The toenail split longitudinally in half, and one half of it fell off. Will it grow back? can it cause any other problems?

Many thanks!

Thank you. As your son's toe nail fell off following an injury it will grow back. This will take a few months to happen. Try to avoid putting pressure on the top surface of his toes especially through wearing shoes that may press on his toes. It may be best for him to wear sandals or walk barefoot especially now that the weather is nice and warm.
