Q.

LOSS OF APPETITE in 5 month old

My 5 and a half months old son has lost his appetite for his formula(NAN 1) and can go on the whole day without eating. 2 days back it was so bad that his temperature went up and he was sleepy and drowsy. The Dr gave him Zimplex and he is now getting better, but now he has a bit of diarrhea. Any recommendation on the problem and possible medication to boast his appetite again.

I am concerned about your baby especially as he is not taking any formula and you mention that he was feverish and was drowsy 2 days ago.Although this is the age when babies usually are teething, these symptoms are not due to teething. Did the doctor check to see if your baby was dehydrated? It would be best to take your baby to be seen at a paediatric after hours unit so that he can be properly diagnosed. The symptoms he has could be due to several possible causes.
